International Students of History Association was founded on the 9 May 1990 in Budapest at the Eötvös Loránd University, on the initiative of Hungarian students of history to bring all the European colleagues together to cooperate and exchange ideas in order to bridge the border between the East and the West after the fall of the Iron Curtain.

Being the founding section of ISHA, Budapest gave the first president of the association, Zoltán Zarándy, and many other founders, namely, Gábor Czoch, Zoltán Csapodi, József Litkei, Katalin Kóthay and Krisztina Fenyő.

ISHA Budapest’s activity has risen since 2011, expending to the Central European University and Pázmány Péter Catholic University as well.

At present, ISHA Budapest is one of the most active ISHA sections in Europe with an extensive membership, being joined by more than 30 students from undergraduates to PhD students and a supporting Alumni network.
